The recent relieving of nearly a hundred high officials of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KW&SB) has not changed the working atmosphere at the water utility as officials are still violating duty timings and also marking absents with no fear of disciplinary actions.

On December 26, 2018, the Board relieved as many as 96 'delinquent' officials (BPS 17 & 18) from present place of posting to report in the office of Director Personal Human Resource Department & Administration (HRD&A), however the sources said most officials still remain absent from offices, creating hurdles for the visiting consumers to get their issues resolved.

The action was taken in the light of the findings made by the committee constituted by the Supreme Court (SC) mandated Sindh Water Commission for service structure scrutiny of the record of KW&SB employees.

The frequent absence and violation of duty timings by employees also irked the KW&SB Managing Director Asadullah Khan who on Monday asked departmental heads to prepare lists of absentees and violators and send the same to MD secretariat so that disciplinarily actions would be taken against them.

Presiding over a meeting with the water utility's high officials and engineers at his office, Asadullah asked deputy managing directors and departmental heads to pay surprise visits of their concerned fields and water installations to review working activities and check the attendance.

He also advised the officials to entertain the complaints of consumers in a decent way and resolve their cases as early as possible.
